Default Another paint suggestion

You might check also with Topeka Graphics in Topeka Indiana. they paint an awful lot of GMC's and many people speak highly of their work. I have no experience with them and don't know if they paint Blue Birds.

We wrere going to have 2 trucks in the fleet vinyl wrapped. The sign painter also does wrap but advised against this process. In cold weather with salt on the road the wrap has a very short life span. The commercial vehicles you see with the wrap are a rolling advertisement and if they have to be redone in a few years it is no big deal. Even 12 years is not a long time for a Bird. Witness the # of 20 year old Birds with original paint! If you have rivets that could be a huge problem

I had a quote of $10,000 to wrap my 42' coach. I was thinking of promoting my book... but $10K would require selling a LOT of books (more than is likely). Then the insurance company mentioned that "a commercial message" will cause us to reevaluate the coverage as a commercial vehicle. That would cost more, too...

I applied a coat of wax, instead.

I emailed Kevin & received a very prompt and detailed reply. Nice guy!

The bottom line is he recommends painting if I am going to keep the vehicle very long. Vinyl does not hold up as well as paint & is almost as expensive.

So, I'm going with the experts recommendation.

Thanks for all the input!!

Default New product: Paint Wrap better than vinyl?

Last week Frank, the body and paint artist over at Coach Worx showed me samples of a new wrap product that is actually paint (not vinyl) it is supposed to be more substantial than vinyl and has the same properties of paint in that it can be sanded and touched up if there is a scratch. Cost wise is similar to vinyl and way less than a good paint job. Lots of colors and textures. Pearls, carbon fiber, alligator too! The samples are impressive. He will have them at the Clearwater Rally and may even have a Prevost coach onsite with 50/50 before and after demo. I have some photos and was going to post but they don't do it justice.

That's good news. Something to look at when the time comes.

Unfortunately, the "time" keeps getting pushed farther down the road as I find more "other stuff" to fix.

I did do a quickie paint job on the nose myself just because I got tired of the primer look.

I probably should update my avatar pic.

Oh well....... when I get "a round tuit"
