Default General Tire Info

Found some of my old notes and it might surprise you;

Want to buy American?
  • Then don't buy Goodyear/Kelly - Moved to South America and rubber is not as good.
  • Buy Toyo - Made here in the US, Alabama
  • Michelin/BF Goodrich - Made in Indiana Plant

Here's some info I've gathered over the years from other WOG members;

BF Goodrich - nothing but good

Cooper - no bad remarks

General - no bad remarks

Goodyear - 3 bad remarks;
- Would never buy again
- after 5 years thread splitting
- tire exploded

Hankook - 8 good ratings

Toyo - no bad remarks

Yokohama - no bad remarks

I just remembered the brand name of the Chinese tires I bought 11 years go, they were Aeolus. The dealer told me they were made with the same specifications as Michelin and were about $200 per tire less. After a little over seven years they were in great shape, but I switched them for brand new Michelin tires which I believe were manufactured in Spartenberg or Greenville, South Carolina. I think when push came to shove with all the taxes, installation and miscl. fees I saved about $100 per tire using the Advantage program, but I also got tires that were only two months away from the manufacture date.

2 new Goodyear Endurance RSA on my steers. Made in the USA (at Goodyear headquarters in Akron, Ohio) and they ride great. I am sure I will not wear them out. I have 2700 miles on them so far and I am very pleased with them. This is Goodyear’s high line tire and is very soft. I thought the Firestone’s I had on the front were nice but these are a far softer ride. These tires also have integrated scrub protection on the sidewall, including wear dimples on the sidewall to indicate if they have been scrubbed.

On the other hand, go w/price and change out every 3 years, more trade in value.
