Since Lucas cut that wire to fix the light problem I have been looking at all the diagram and schematics I could find and to date I have not been able to figure out what did that wire do and what is not working without it connected!

I am giving up on the endeavor and hopefully someone much smarter than me like Lucas or John Wyatt will figure it out down the road!

There is entirely too many wires running in this thing....

My Lx is different but we all got relays. All my rear lights (brake, and running lights) came on with the start battery switch, no key on or anything. I was lucky to have a friend staying with me who works on yachts. He looked over the schematics in the book and we went for the relays under the drivers window. They all are almost all the same and we swapped one for the one that controls the rear lights. Bingo. So I went to NAPA and get a few and fixed it. Maybe you got a relay issue?
