Question FC LED tail light upgrade

Hey! It's me again! My current project has me thinking about replacing/modifying the 4 red square tail lights to LED. Sure I could just replace the incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs but I was thinking about installing an array of LEDs in the housing, to make it more bright.

My question now becomes:

1. Has anyone does it this way yet?

2. Will I have to put resistors in to handle the LEDS, whether they are just LED bulbs or the LED array?

I want to keep the original red plastic light housing, to keep with it's vintage style, just want to upgrade it's light output. and yes, I did use the search bar, but couldn't find the answers I was looking for.

Ok, I know you guys are picture driven so here is what I am talking about.

This is the rusty back brake light. Plenty of space to put an LED array in there.

The brake covers again with space for an array......but no space for a resistor.

throw that old junk away and put new fixtures with LEDs on the back.
The only thing worse than bad tail/brake lights is bad brakes.

You don’t need to add resistors. You will need a electronic flasher, the new LEDs don’t pull the power for the old one, you can get one online or grab one at NAPA. Should be easy to find replacements your lights are pretty common.
