Default 2006 Jeep TJ trans slow from 1st - 2nd.

Anyone have some help with these problem?

Jeep shifts from 1st to 2nd. It is slow to shift all other gears seem OK?
(trans is auto 42RLE). Fluid level is good.

Also rear fender flare has a come lose from body? In the center, it looks to be a push in type fitting but no way to get to it.

Mark, I have a 1998 ZJ Grand Cherokee with the 42RE. Mine was also slow from 1st to 2nd. (Was like that since I drove it off the lot in 1997). I finally ended up tightening the kickdown cable to make it shift a little later. That helped a lot, wish I had done it years ago. I'm guessing shifting at a higher RPM gives it a little more hydraulic pressure.

Now if I can just get my torque converter to not be so 'grabby' in the cold...

I was looking at some Jeep forms and found that Wranglers in 2005 & 2006 42RLE trans. has a problem with the EMC that causes this slow shift when it is cold, but shifts OK when at temp.
I replaced the EMC 2 years ago when the shop told me it was bad! It was not. It was the ING. pin. I did not know about this problem at that time.
Anyone have this problem? I will talk to the people on Monday.
I found this: Mark Cantrell @ Wranglerfix (954)-803-8829.

I talked to Wrangler fix. So I then removed the battery (-) so the PCM can reboot and the slow shifting was fixed "for now". I ran it a few days and it came back as Wrangler fix had said. I got the complete new PCM from them, with no return of the old one. It's been running great all week. Time will tell!

The TJ flares are held on with M4 bolts threaded into riv-nuts. Corrosion usually causes the riv-nut to spin, so spray liberally with penetrant and let soak.
