Default DDEC Dash Display

I have seen a few BB's with the Detroit Diesel Electronic Controls box that is on the dash with a display, and 4 buttons... What does this display? Performance data(MPG, ect), or just engine data(oil press, RPM, ect)?

Is this unit adaptabile to older 'Birds that does not have one? --(For ex 1987+ PT's) w/Detroit? I believe 1986 was the last year they were non-electronic.
If so, Where do you get them? Price? Installation?
I have a pic below:
Thanks,
