Default In the middle of a remodel, then...

So, almost done with the floor...praise the Lord! Seats still out, new couches still out...tools everywhere. Last night a fire breaks about five miles from our place. Nothing to worry about (picture 1). Then today the wind shifts and it is pandemonium (picture 2 & 3)...coming right at us. Wind howling in our direction. Try to put the drivers seat back in...murder! Electricity goes out, lines burned up. Fire generators and start to prepare for evacuation . Only solace is that we will be comfortable, if we have to evacuate. Fill chainsaw with fuel/oil get ready to cut trees down around the house if we do evacuate. Fill fridge in the coach, plenty of cold beer. Then the wind shifts...and they catch the fire. Be still my heart, I can't take retirement! Electricity just came back on...give me a beer!

Oh, and we sold 60 acres we had that closed on Friday...it all burned today!

Glad I got in and out of there in early June before the fires. Be safe.

Two homes were destroyed yesterday, right near where I took the pictures. First time I have seen jet air tankers working a fire...four engine.

I had a mental image of me driving the coach out of my place sitting on a bucket...I scratched my new floor pretty good during the preparation to evacuate , but the new floor is distressed bamboo so it is a bit more "distressed". Plus, it will always remind us of the day we lucked out!

Neal, If you're going to tell me that the fence post is your property line, you definitely have an in with The Man. Glad the only casualty was your flooring. That had to be a scary situation.
