Default Front door latch lock NG!

While down in Yuma I got locked in the bus! The lock button would not unlock the door, and the inside latch handle did nothing ;{

I finally had Mark turn the key outside and open the door that way.
THANKS Mark!!

What happened was the inner door lever cam slipped on the wrong side of the bellcrank so it wouldnt actuate the door latch... That was a pretty easy fix ;}

AND, there where two springs that went bad. One small one was broken, and another one jammed and I had to remove it.

Does anyone have a diagram of the lock showing where the springs went?
Source for the springs? or just go to the hardware store..??
Manufacture of the lock? Parts still available?

Heres some photos of the latch, the tiewrap holds up the lock button so it dosnt get stuck...

Thanks!
/Joe

Joe,i took pics and all that info is posted on WOG somewhere.
The best thing to do is delete the car style door lock and drill a hole and install a screw in the hole to prevent that from ever happening again.

Use a throttle spring off a car to,it works way better than the wimply spring it came with.

Thanks Randy!

Sounds like a plan, when I get back to Yuma I'll pull the rods and button and bolt that thing open ;}

Joe here is a couple of pictures. You can see the spring. I used a piece of wire to disable the locking device.

I’m a new bus owner and new to this site and I know this is an old thread. The learning curve is steep! My car style lock on my exit door seems to be disabled as the knob is just sitting in the hole. My question is, when you disable the car style knob does that also disable the key lock on the outside handle? Mine doesn’t seem to work. If so, is the only means to lock the bus now with the deadbolt lock? Thank you.

Don't know your car door situation , but many have been disabled.
Yes only use the dead bolt lock and you will always gain entry

Welcome to WOG forum, Don.
Leave that top button lock disabled. It has been the problem with many getting locked out or even in the coach.
As Bill stated only use the deadbolt. And as many here do leave a bedroom window unlocked . I have even removed the latch so it can not accidentally be locked. Much easier to crawl into that window than break in.
As you read further in the forum you will see that the door latch mechanisms are glitchy.

Thanks for the advise. I will not attempt to ‘fix’ the lock knob since it was probably disabled intentional to avoid being locked out. As I said, this is my first RV and the learning curve is steep. I researched a lot before I decided on a Wanderlodge and I’m looking forward to my first trip and many years with this bus.

One more thing, when the inside top button knob is disabled does that also disable the key lock outside for the door opening handle?
