Default Talk about the high cost of repairs!!!!

In light of the recent discussions about the high cost of maintenance on our 'Birds I thought that I'd show this postcard of a Ford Model T Automotive Repair Costs Mailer in 1928...... and on a penny postcard.

How about that charge for OVERHAULING THE FRONT AXLE, I wonder if it includes setting the caster

In case you haven’t calculated it, a dollar in 1928 would amount to $12.35 today, according to the U. S. Government’s Consumer Price Index. So that $25 engine/transmission overhaul in 1928 small-town Montana would still only be $308.75 in today’s money—and a great bargain compared to what a new or rebuilt engine and transmission in a modern car would cost, whether in Montana or a Detroit suburb.
No wonder the Model T Ford was so beloved.

I posted this only for a comparrison of how things have chaged over the years.
Just a reminder, we don't discuss politics on the forum, just in case this may spark that type of comment.

Ha!... true but you had to drop the pan every week and file down the Babbit bearings! and on the model A's you had to change the fuel pump push rod, every week! so, can you tell us the cost difference in the end?
Let's do tires next!
