Default Engine batteries

New to the BMC. Have 20 amp hooked up to keep batteries charged. House batteries are charged. Engine batteries are not. How do I keep both charged? Thanks!

Buy an automatic combiner relay. Check out blue sea systems for quality products.

By 20 amp , are you referring to a battery charger or a shoreline ?

I chose to have separate chargers on each bank . By using two smart chargers/converters , they could monitor and charge each bank of batteries separately .

Alternator charged both banks through an isolator . A combiner relay would take the place of the isolator well . An isolator has a slight voltage drop , the relay doesn't .

Harold's answer is correct. However, there is another option that I sometimes use when I have full hook ups. There is a battery switch on your dash that combines the engine and house batteries. It can be used to assist your engine batteries if they are weak. I also use it to keep my engine batteries charged. Switch is a rocker style switch that is center off, momentary, and on. Switch label is: Aux Battery. Turn the switch on and your house batteries and engine batteries are combined. I leave the switch off unless I am charging the engine batteries as you could run down the engine batteries when dry camping.
