Default Tank Capacity

I metered the water when filling the fresh water tank and also the black tank and found the capacities to be significantly less than Blue Bird marketed. Not a big deal, but I wondered about the fuel tank.

Yesterday I ran the fuel tank down to 4" measured by a dip cord. It then took 188 gallons to fill it. It is marketed as a 260 gallon tank. I doubt if 4" on the bottom equals 72 gallons. Does anyone know how far the fuel pickup tube is above the bottom of the tank? Knowing that I can calculate usable fuel remaining, and total usable fuel. That is a number I'd like to know when if I have to stretch it a little, especially if it is 50 gallons less than published.

Anybody know?

Ron,

I think the major deficiency is in not being able to fill the tank to the top. On my 380, the fill lines do leave air space in the top of the tank that will not fill with fuel. My SP would fill to the top if don't slowly, and I think it would take very close to the advertised 200 gal. Not the case with the newer coach. Not sure about the engine pick up. The gen and hurricane lose suction at about 1/3 full.

I checked my rear bath FC a few years ago and found it held exactly (+ or - 1 gallon) 150 gallons as advertised That was full to the cap at the filler neck with the rear jacks lowered and fronts still up. It looked like a 16 ton trip to the proctologist for sure!

My LP tank was totally empty and I fully expected a bill for 40+ lbs(gals)?
He said 33 and it was full?
I've read different theories of scent sediment, but I think I can live with a 33 tank.

The LP Off/On switch works, Thanks @Mallie. The fridge has even quit mysteriously switching from AC to LP.

Since I just messed with all my waste, gray and water tanks and valves last weekend I should measure their capacities?

Ron,

I agree with you that it seems like we are in the neighborhood of 220 or so I would think . I had her down to the 2 nd line today and she only took 183. I can t imagine that 2 lines would be 80 or so gallons .

Now as to the fresh water hahaha , your funny , I always wanted to meter it but with so many other things to do I just didn t get there

By the way isn t it Sail Boat time for you ?

Greetings, Ron:
Isn't the tank a cylinder? With the length and diameter volume might be easy to figure. I wold need to find tha box of kolledge books i have stashed somewhere safe. I vaguely remember a yellow book of formulas that i had at one time. I suppose google is faster now.

yea.. Google is good. I use this one;

1 cubic foot equals 7.48 gallons

so I simply find the area of my tank (LxWxH) in inches then divide by 1728 to get feet. Then simply multiply the cu/ft number you calculated by 7.48 to get your gallons.

Wanderlodge advertised my 78FC35SB as having a 98 gal fresh water tank

http://www.vintagebirds.com/index.html

Tankage:
  • Fresh Water- 98 Gallons
  • Gray Water - 60 Gallons
  • Waste Water-42 Gallons
  • LP-45 Gallons
The actual Fresh Water tank size is 62 gallons, a larger will not fit without some clever modifications (which I'm doing) . My fuel tank panned out at 150 gallons. and I'm pretty sure the gray & black match as well.

Wonder if a rear bath has a 98 gal fresh water tank?
