Default 2016 - May 27-31 - Kaibab Lake, AZ

Kaibab Lake - May 27-30, 2016

5th Annual AZ Hot Birds Kaibab Lake Rally
Created by: Fred & Bobbi Engel

- Located just outside Williams, AZ up in the cool country, perfect time of year.

- Experience Fred Engel’s famous Dutch Oven Cobbler for desert! Yummmmm
- Bring your bike! Great place to ride.
- Make reservations now! This Is over a Holiday
- We want to make sure we’re all in Loop-A & B if possible.

NOTE: Fred Bellows has some extra bikes (one electric) for anyone that wants to ride around camp or do a group ride into town (3 miles). If interested contact Fred @ geefred@gmail.com to reserve your ride!

If you cannot get into A or B loops then look for C, D, & E. You may play with the dates to see if the spot is available. Also, make SURE you check the site length! Also, note there is a list of sites and a map on the website for clarity.

SATURDAY
  • 8:00am - Breakfast with the Engels at B16 - Fred will grill up pancakes, sausage, and bacon. Bring juices & fruit for a side.
  • 9:30am - Leaving to attend the Williams Memorial Day Parade in town. Parade starts at 10am so let’s get there early enough to get a good spot and bring some chairs!
  • 5:30pm - We’re planning a pot luck at Fred & Bobbi’s space B16. So bring your burgers, dogs, steaks and we’ll have a good ole fashion Memorial Day cook out. Fred has a couple of charcoal grills AND will be making his famous Dutch oven cobbler! J If everyone could bring an appropriate side dish to share that would be great. (don’t forget your chairs)
SUNDAY
  • 9am – 5pm - Flagstaff Arts & Crafts Show
    • 211 W. Aspen Ave & Humphrey (Wheeler Park) Flagstaff. Outing to walk around Flagstaff and maybe grab a lunch before returning. This is a 40 min drive.
  • After lunch - Tami & I were thinking of driving out to Sycamore Canyon Wilderness on the way back to camp;
    • Sycamore Canyon Wilderness - Is like a mini Grand Canyon. Tami & I had a picnic there long ago when Alec and Robert were young. Might be a nice afternoon ride?
    • Dogtown Reservoir is on the way home from Sycamore Creek - has a campground for RVs and is only 7 miles away
  • 6pm - Fred Engel is at it again with Tri-Tip! Come on over, a small donation would be appreciated, and bring a side dish! It's like Mini-Q

The Canyon is a great side trip from this Rally. You are right on the main road to the South Rim.

Great. I have an America the Beautiful Access Pass, time to start using it.

Hey Guys and Gals;

Kaibab lake is just around the corner, we’ll be heading up Friday and should arrive early evening. Several will be up there Thursday. If you cannot make this Rally let me know ASAP, don’t give your spot away, we’ll pay you for it and have others that would like to attend.

I’ve seen Davie’s bus out so bet he’s working on his genset, I’ve been working on my new radiator, swing, and new electric fan clutch. I haven’t used my genset in so long I had to remove the bad fuel and clean it up so we’ll have AC during our travels. Fred & Frank have been working on steering & compressor issues.. oh what fun these are! :-0

Mr. Bellows was toying with a gas fired fire ring for those who don’t like to smell like smoke and was working on a homemade corn hole game so I smell some contests coming. I believe Fred & Wendy will be using their new RV Van so will be fun listening to the plans they have for that project around the camp fire. J

SATURDAY
· 9:30am - We’re planning to attend the Williams Memorial Day Parade in town. Parade starts at 10am so let’s get there early enough to get a good spot and bring some chairs!
· 5:30pm - We’re planning a pot luck at Fred & Bobbi’s space B16.

SUNDAY
· 8am – 12pm - Farmer’s Market – Flagstaff. Just an optional outing to walk around Flagstaff and maybe grab a lunch before returning. This is a 40 min drive.
· Tami & I were thinking of driving out and checking out some nearby lakes;
o Dogtown Reservoir has a campground for RVs and is only 7 miles away
o Sycamore Canyon Wilderness - Is like a mini Grand Canyon only 45 min away. Tami & I had a picnic there long ago when Alec and Robert were young. Might be a nice afternoon ride?

Look forward to seeing everyone and also need some down time.
Drive safe,

Michael & Tami

Got the genset up and running. No HF noise box this trip, or borrowing battery charger power from neighbors like I did at "Q" (really appreciate all the help you guys gave me).
Did my annual oil and filter change on the Cat today and chassis lube. Funny thing about the oil change, for the fourth year, when I put the date on the new oil filter, it is one day later than last year. Gotta break that habit or I'll be late getting to Kaibab.
See y'all up the hill.

Default Update - Sold to the little lady in the micro van! :-)

**UPDATE**
Hey Everyone,

We’ve had a cancellation and I wanted to extend an invitation out before we lose the slot. Shawn & Brandy are in the middle of a cross country move and delays have now caused them to have to back out. I asked he not cancel so we can find another Wanderlodge owner to fill the slot. If anyone is interested please reply;

SOLD! Years ago we met a very nice lady traveling alone in a micro van conversion. She was having heating issues and we worked on her van to keep her warm. Bobbi & Fred befriended her and although her health is failing she'd love to come to our rally and meet up with us all once again. Now Shawn can finish moving and we can do something good for someone... Everything happens for a reason....

B19 - Pat Proffer MicroVan Conversion May 27-30

*Full slot list on 1st post

Fred E serving up his famous kettle cobbler with ice cream, last night. Tonight Fred's at it again with Tri-Tip! Weather's been perfect and company's better. Wish you all could be here!
