Caterpillar 3208 Solutions This sub-forum is hosted by Mike Hohnstein who has been at this kind of thing for 50+ years now, guess I'm addicted. The saga has been all about progressively larger shop space since then. Honestly, never wanted to get into the CAT 3208's that were originally considered to be a throwaway engine but that's all that works in a FC in my world. Same thing with my Ford toter, that came with a NA, too much effort to hang in a 6, so been at it with the CAT V-8 for 20 years now. In reality you can get excellent life out of a CAT 3208 if it's built correctly. Post your questions about the CAT 3208 engines here and Mike will try to help you out.

Default Priming pump rebuild kit

For all the 3208 gurus out there. Is there a rebuild kit for the priming pump on a 3208 turbo?

Also, does anyone know what the black box next to the pump might be.

So much stuff to learn about and we are just as lost as we were a year ago.

Thanks.

Not sure about rebuild, but probably O rings, It is best to add an electric fuel pump , and by pass the hand pump, pusher/lift pump close to the fuel tank.
Black box may be an after market cruise control

Thank you Bill.
We don't seem to have a fuel delivery problem. We noticed a leak at the pump and a strong diesel odor when driving around last weekend. That's the only place we can find anything wet with fuel so we figured it was an o ring problem.
We kinda thought the black box might be after market cruise control.
Maybe we're not quite as lost as we thought.
