Default Specs or an old Windshield gasket needed

Does anybody happen to have either the prints showing specs, or an old windshield gasket laying around for the 1988 and earlier coaches? Original part number was 0220442. According to Bluebird and Coachcraft, this part is now NLA.

I just got off the phone with Dan Hartley who says he can get them made, if he has the specs or an old one to copy.

Thread closed J. Wyatt 8/30/2021 -- to get on the group buy list for FC/PT, SP, WB and LX/LXI/M380/M450 Windshield gaskets, go to:

Doesn't a new windshield come with the gaskey. If so Duncan or one of the big glass distributors should have it.

Already called BB, part NLA as I stated in my original post. Even the big glass guys can't get one, hence why I'm asking so we can get new ones made.

Guys, what we need is a windshield rubber form a FC or a PT.
We can get a new mold made if we have an old complete not cut up rubber.
Dan Hartley will have them made and stock the parts.
Lots of us here will benefit from this down the road.
Anybody with an FC or PT (not to be confused with a WB) will need this rubber one day.
If you have an FC junked in your backyard,we need that rubber gasket.
If you have an all american school bus,we can use that gasket to make new ones.

I have a gasket for the SP and Dan has spoken for it.
Its his for the taking,if we can get the one made that Markus needs i will buy one for my 71,just to help with the cost of making the molds.
This is a group buy,but we need an old gasket to make it happen.

I think I might have one or part of a new one at my shop. I won't be back there until Tuesday, but I can look at that point. If I don't reply here with an answer by Wednesday of this coming week...then someone ping me and give me a reminder please.

I replaced both of my windshields a few years ago...I think I had extra gasket as it came in one long length and was cut to fit.

I will tell you a good little trick I did when replacing the glass too. I painted the bottom inside of each piece black, I'd guess maybe 4 inches or so up. With my old windshields it always bothered me that you could see the edge of the vinyl dash and anything sitting on the dash when walking up to the bus. That couple of inches of black paint completely solved that problem. It has held up really well, and I just used spray paint and some masking.

I took a look and I couldn't find extra windshield gasket at my shop. What I did find was extra "filler strip". I will attach pictures of what I have. Not necessarily looking to get rid of what I've got...but if the filler strip is also unavailable, then this can be used to make a mold for it.

Sorry I didn't have the actual gasket, thought I did. I do know I ordered the new gasket and filler strip directly from bluebird three years ago when I put in two new windshields (also ordered from bluebird). Not saying they aren't out of it as the original post states. But I'd be tempted to try another dealer and have someone dig a little deeper for some that is still sitting in on the shelf somewhere...if I needed it. Just a thought.

Thanks Tim. Windshield can be found, so can the filler. I called several dealers and they called main, who pointed me to Coachcraft, who pointed me to Dan....

Guess I could call a few more dealers and see if anyone happens to have any in stock, but I already tried NJ, PA and DE.

I've also been calling some other bus parts yards hoping to find some new old stock laying around, no luck so far. They won't sell just the used gaskets without the windshields, if they even have one. Shipping and freight is not cheap for the windshields so that's not a cost effective solution.

I got an old burned out bus (85 PT40) with the front windshields out. Been that way for ten years. Never have I replaced windshields....think the gasket might be salvageable? Any tricks to getting it out? I can take a look in the morning.
